Job summary

Cannon Building seeks a Senior Project Engineer (Life Science) to support the Project Manager and Superintendent on complex construction programs in San Diego. You will coordinate between the owner, architect, consultants, subcontractors, and in-house teams to ensure schedules, budgets, and quality align with contract specs.

Key duties include leading project documentation, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and safety practices, while mentoring junior engineers and maintaining proactive

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of construction project experience.
• Proficient in Office, project management software (Procore), scheduling tools (MS Project) and BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks).
• Ability to understand complex construction project scopes and resolve issues.
• Strong communication skills and teamwork orientation.
• Professional certifications (LEED, DBIA, PMP) and OSHA trainings are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Mentor, develop and train team members on a fast-paced project.
• Manage other project engineers on the project team.
• Liaise between owner/client, architect, consultants and general contractor.
• Enforce contracts between Cannon Building and subcontractors and with the owner.
• Assist in bid packages, drawings lists, scopes of work and schedules.
• Manage project documentation using PM systems; maintain logs and submittals.
• Prepare and update RFIs, change orders and cost reporting.
• Support project scheduling, look-ahead schedules and delivery logs.
• Contribute to cost control, quantity takeoffs and unit pricing for change orders.
• Support safety meetings and project coordination meetings; document minutes.
