Job summary

Cannon Building, a leading general contractor specializing in life science, healthcare, commercial/institutional, and industrial sectors, is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee and drive healthcare construction projects in the San Diego area.

As a Superintendent at Cannon Building, your primary focus will be the Safety Plan at the jobsite while working with the Project Manager to develop schedules, monitor budgets, and ensure high quality work.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of experience in commercial construction with focus on Life Science and Pharmaceutical
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or Civil Engineering preferred; OSHPD/HCAI regulations and construction safety certifications a plus
• Experience as Lead Superintendent for Life Science/Pharmaceutical projects
• Project experience valued at $2 million or greater as a Superintendent
• Minimum of 5 previous projects managing Life Science/Pharmaceutical
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with clients, stakeholders and team members

Responsibilities

• Monitor SWPPP, BMP and storm-related paperwork and keep files up to date.
• Lead subcontractors and field personnel; interact with Owner, Architect and Consultants.
• Negotiate subcontract and purchase order terms; oversee subcontract execution.
• Manage project documentation in Procore: RFIs, submittals, inspections, safety reports and change orders.
• Review shop drawings with Project Manager to ensure conformance with construction documents.
• Promote safety meetings and enforce OSHA and site safety requirements.
• Travel as needed; base is San Diego region with project travel to Orange/LA/San Diego counties.
