Job summary

The State of Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) seeks a Mental Health Professional Counselor Advanced to deliver expert counseling to clients with mental health disorders in state institutions and community-based programs.

This on-site role requires LCPC licensure, strong communication, and the ability to work evenings or weekends as needed. The position emphasizes evaluation, intervention, and rehabilitation within secure facilities such as jails and prisons.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed by Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as LCPC.
• Two years of professional counseling experience with mental health disorders.
• Substitution of military service in counseling field may be allowed.

Responsibilities

• Provide counseling services as an expert in specialties (e.g., dissociative, adjustment, bipolar disorders) in state programs.
• Mentor/guide lower-level counselors and staff without supervisory duties.
