Job summary

State of Maryland is seeking a Social Worker, Advanced, Criminal Justice in Howard County/Jessup to provide licensed clinical mental health services to incarcerated individuals using assessment, evaluation, intervention and treatment regimens.

Responsibilities include crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, documentation in EPHR, and collaboration with other professionals. Eligibility requires a clinical social work license and relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Licensed as a certified social worker-clinical by the State Board of Social Work Examiners prior to appointment.
• Three years of experience providing clinical and therapeutic or other social work services.
• Doctoral degree may substitute for up to one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Assesses the incarcerated individual’s situation to determine the appropriate services using evaluation, intervention, and treatment regimens.
• Intervenes in crisis situations to de-escalate and provide acute care using suicide prevention planning and crisis intervention techniques.
• Develops treatment plans and provides treatment to inmates with significant mental or emotional disorders through individual and/or group counseling.
• Develops and implements behavioral management plans for inmates disruptive to operation.
• Refers inmates for additional services such as psychiatric care, inpatient mental health services, case management, medical evaluations, addictions services, etc.
• Documents services rendered to the inmate in the EPHR according to procedures.
