Job summary

Cambridge Public Library is seeking a Senior Substitute to provide outstanding customer service to the public and support library staff through shift coverage at the Main Library and all branches. This substitute role requires flexibility across locations and departments.

Responsibilities include circulation functions, assisting patrons, shelving, processing deliveries, and enforcing library policies while prioritizing accessibility and community needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide substitute coverage for all departments and branches of the Library.
• Handle circulation tasks: check-outs, check-ins, reserves, renewals, fines.
• Deliver outstanding customer service to the public and staff.
• Assist patrons locating books and using library resources.
• Shelve materials and read shelves.
• Process deliveries; move and unload bins; check in items.
• Monitor public areas and enforce library policies.
• Other duties as needed for the good of the library.
