Job summary

Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY, seeks a Senior Stack Attendant in Library Operations to support the Collection Maintenance team. You will assist with daily workflow, shelving, and inventory to maximize access to library materials.

Reporting to the Vice Dean for Administrative and User Services, the role requires familiarity with library operations, ability to stand and lift up to 25 pounds, and collaboration with staff. Preference for experience with Worldshare (WMS).

Qualifications

• Familiarity with library operations and procedures.
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
• Push loaded book carts and shift shelves of books.
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
• Experience with Worldshare Management Services (WMS) library system.

Responsibilities

• Assists with daily work of the unit (sorting, re-shelving, floor sweep, dehumidifier checks, etc.).
• Collects and records daily shelving statistics.
• Assists with ongoing collection inventory and location maintenance.
• Assists with shifting projects and preparation of new range card labels.
• Assists with other units as needed for special projects or high-priority tasks.
• May perform other assigned duties not specifically identified above but which require the same degree of skills normally included within the above job title.
