Job summary

King William County Library System is seeking a Library Associate 3 to lead story times, plan programs, and supervise Junior Library Associates. The role emphasizes excellent customer service at the circulation desk and coordinating library programs and volunteers.

The position requires a strong commitment to early literacy and community engagement, with responsibilities spanning program facilitation, materials processing, and reference support.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Three years library experience preferred.
• One-year supervisory experience preferred.
• Proficiency with library systems and databases.
• Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
• Fluency in English and Spanish, with excellent verbal and written communication in both languages.
• A high degree of proficiency in MS Office suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint is desired.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work a regular schedule that may include a combination of days, evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provides customer service to patrons by greeting, providing tours and assisting patrons in all areas of the library.
• Plans and coordinates engaging educational events for children and programs for all ages.
• Processes newly acquired library materials and maintains cataloging details.
• Enforces rules of conduct and assists with reference questions.
• Coordinates volunteers and provides necessary training.
• Supports privacy and policy requirements for patron records.
