Job summary

The State of Arkansas through the Arkansas State Library invites applications for a Library Supervisor / Expert. This role provides advanced library services, designs programs, conducts research, and mentors staff to elevate library management and lifelong learning across educational partners.

You will collaborate with schools and community groups, lead professional development, ensure compliance with regulations, and maintain rigorous records while staying current with library science advances.

Qualifications

• MLS/MLIS degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in library management or a related field.
• Extensive knowledge of library science principles, practices, and technologies.
• Proven experience in conducting research, data analysis, and program evaluation.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, community leaders, and internal library personnel.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement advanced library programs, services, and initiatives.
• Conduct research and analysis to identify trends, best practices, and areas for improvement in library services.
• Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to internal library personnel, helping them enhance their skills and knowledge.
• Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of library programs and initiatives, developing recommendations for improvements as needed.
• Collaborate with educational agencies, educational institutions, community organizations, and a variety of assorted personnel in an attempt to promote library services and initiatives.
• Design and deliver professional development workshops and training sessions for internal library personnel.
• Advocate for policies and initiatives that support the advancement of library services and access to information.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to library activities, research findings, and program outcomes.
• Cultivate a positive and constructive work environment that supports collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Stay current with the latest research, trends, and developments in library science and information management.
