Job summary

Old Republic Bitco is seeking a Sr. Claims Specialist with CA liability claims experience to join our Denver, CO branch. The role supports multi-line claims handling with a focus on liability and construction/auto risk, in a hybrid environment across Pasadena, CA or Denver, CO locations.

Occasional travel to other OR Bitco offices is expected. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in coverage interpretation, investigation, and negotiation, with strong customer service and regulatory knowledge.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience with coverage review, interpretations and DISCLAIMERS.
• Experience in claims investigation including statements, authorizations, retention of qualified experts and counsel.
• Experience in claims administration including reports, review reserves, compliance knowledge of laws and procedures.
• Experience in claims settlement with preparation of disclaimer letters, releases, and proof of loss statements; participation in legal proceedings when necessary.
• Contract analysis and interpretation experience.

Responsibilities

• Review policy conditions, exclusions, and endorsements to resolve coverage and liability issues for assigned claims
• Prepare reservation of rights letters, nonwaiver agreements, and coverage DISCLAIMERS to address claim coverage issues
• Review, analyze, and interpret various contracts to determine risk transfer exposures or opportunities.
• Review and evaluate claim reserves to ensure that the respective reserve properly reflects the potential exposure
• Investigate claims to evaluate coverage and legal issues, including meeting with insureds and witnesses and obtaining statements and records
• Provide proper documentation and reporting of investigation and claims handling activities
• Negotiate settlements through mediation, arbitration, or court-supervised processes; provide settlement documentation
• Maintain a working knowledge of regulatory and jurisdictional requirements
• Provide direction to and management of defense counsel, independent adjusters and other third parties
• Other duties as assigned
