Job summary

K&L Gates is seeking a Senior Client Billing Specialist to join our team in one of our offices in Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Harrisburg, or Chicago. The role oversees end-to-end billing, proformas, and e-billing submissions, requiring precision and strong client service.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of legal billing experience, a bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance, and advanced Excel skills. You will mentor junior staff and ensure compliance with financial regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent ebilling experience.
• Strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance.
• Commitment to high-quality work and client service.
• Maintain confidentiality of firm and client information.
• Able to guide junior team members and support team productivity.
• Independent work ethic with team collaboration.
• Proficient in MS Outlook, Word and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily billing activities, supporting attorneys, assistants, and clients.
• Verify and set up matters in the accounting system with rates and instructions.
• Review unbilled time and costs; reconcile invoices and update records.
• Maintain detailed invoice charts, rates, holdbacks, and budgets.
• Manage e-billing submissions, updates, rejections, and approvals.
• Oversee timekeeper approvals and vendor invoices as per guidelines.
• Conduct audits and assist with internal and external reviews.
• Address billing inquiries; support collections and client data queries.
• Serve as escalation point for billing issues and train teammates.
