Job summary

Octus is seeking a Legal Analyst or Senior Legal Analyst with deep bankruptcy knowledge to cover large Chapter 11 and related restructurings in the United States. The role sits in the Americas Core Credit team, focusing on distressed debt and complex restructurings.

The ideal candidate has a JD with a strong academic record and 4+ years of bankruptcy experience, with occasional travel. NYC-based proximity is a plus as is the ability to engage with top law firms and investment professionals.

Qualifications

• JD with a strong academic record.
• Comprehensive understanding of bankruptcy law.
• 4+ years of bankruptcy law experience involving large Chapter 11 cases.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day monitoring of distressed bankruptcy matters and coverage of a subset of cases.
• Reporting on case developments on tight timelines per Octus style guide.
• Preparing long-form analyses of legal or industry developments and trends.
• Collaborating with financial analysts and reporters on case coverage.
• Meeting with lawyers and investment professionals who subscribe to Octus.
• Representing Octus at webinars, conferences and industry events.
