Job summary

The South Carolina Department on Aging seeks a Legal Assistance Developer to lead statewide legal aid initiatives for seniors. The LAD will build networks among Area Agencies on Aging, legal providers, and private attorneys to expand access to essential services.

Responsibilities include providing technical assistance, training, and support to AAAs and ombudsman programs; helping older adults understand and exercise their rights in fiduciary matters; and advancing the quality and reach of legal

Qualifications

Licensed attorney with SC Bar membership or eligible for admission.
Knowledge of Older Americans Act and aging services.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Coordinates provisions of legal assistance and builds statewide networks with AAAs, legal providers, and private attorneys.
Develops and provides technical assistance, training, and support to AAAs, ombudsman programs, and adult protective services.
Collaborates on activities to enhance access to legal resources for seniors in SC.
Assists older individuals in understanding and exercising rights related to fiduciary matters.
Works to improve the quality and reach of legal services statewide.
