Job summary

Metra Commuter Rail is seeking a Senior Instructional Designer to design, develop, and deliver comprehensive employee training programs tailored to the organization's needs, assess training needs, and lead various training initiatives.

Reporting to the Sr. Div. Director Operations Learning and Development, you will collaborate with client departments and subject‑matter experts to develop learning solutions, write assignments, and ensure training quality and compliance with FRA and OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in English, Adult Education, Instructional Design, Industrial Organization Psychology, or Technical Writing.
• Minimum of five years of instructional design or training development experience, including at least two years designing learning solutions.
• Knowledge of instructional theory and adult learning principles for hard copy and web-based materials.
• Strong ability to facilitate classes and manage projects with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Lead and collaborate with peers to develop new learning deliverables and processes.
• Define learning objectives, project standards, and appropriate instructional strategies.
• Collaborate with subject-matter-experts to develop curriculum, implementation, and evaluation.
• Write assignments and maintain documentation for facilitator-led, online, and blended training.
