Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in Chantilly, VA, is seeking a Lead Communications Systems Engineer (Senior Project Leader) to drive RF communications architecture and system engineering for key space programs. This on-site role leads expert teams, manages acquisition requirements, and advances mission assurance through budget and technical oversight.

You will mentor staff, coordinate across government and contractor teams, and travel to facilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering or science from a recognized institution.
• 12+ years of escalating responsibilities in professional engineering/scientific roles on government programs.
• Experience with satellite comms hardware or waveform processing.
• Ability to lead cross-organizational technical efforts with high initiative.
• Strong written and verbal communication for senior stakeholders.
• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with polygraph required; US citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical representative to the customer, leading architecture concepts.
• Lead teams evaluating acquisition system requirements and technical specs.
• Facilitate ideas and concerns across the organization within SSG.
• Contribute technically to on-orbit studies and enterprise impacts.
• Assess risk, schedule, and cost to enable timely space capability delivery.
• Assist in program office systems engineering and acquisition processes.
