Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join the Machine Learning Center of Excellence. You will design and deliver trusted, scalable ML platforms, mentor engineers, and drive AI-enabled engineering practices in a secure environment.

You will work across teams to build production-grade Python services, implement cloud-native architectures on AWS, and lead initiatives in observability, automation, and secure software practices for enterprise-scale workloads.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with formal training or certification.
• Advanced Python programming, OO design, and modular architecture.
• Experience building large-scale cloud-native services in AWS.
• Hands-on with EKS, ECS, MSK (Kafka), SQS, and S3.
• Infra-as-code using Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
• Production-grade distributed systems design and operation.
• Observability using Datadog, Dynatrace, Splunk.
• Strong API design and microservices patterns.
• CI/CD automation, deployment pipelines, and security practices.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools and responsible AI guidance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain production-grade Python services and APIs.
• Architect and implement high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems in AWS.
• Build and manage scalable cloud-native apps with EKS, ECS, MSK, SQS, and S3.
• Develop reusable frameworks and modular components to speed delivery.
• Implement IaC solutions with Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Create monitoring and observability with Datadog, Dynatrace, and Splunk.
• Deploy and support production apps with SLAs and reliability in mind.
• Promote secure-by-design practices, testing, and blue/green/canary releases.
• Review code, provide architectural guidance, and mentor engineers.
• Collaborate with product managers and site reliability engineers on scalable solutions.
• Drive AI-assisted engineering adoption to improve quality and efficiency.
