Job summary

Northern Trust is seeking an experienced Senior Lead, Software Quality Engineering to define and drive testing strategy across Salesforce solutions, custom apps, and web platforms. You will lead automation, establish quality gates, and partner with engineering, product, and business teams to deliver secure, reliable software.

The role requires hands‑on leadership, risk management, and familiarity with AI‑assisted testing tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Typically 10 or more years of software testing or quality engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a technical lead or senior leadership capacity.
• Strong hands‑on experience testing Salesforce solutions, custom enterprise applications, web applications, APIs, and system integrations.
• Demonstrated experience building or advancing test automation using modern programming or scripting languages and industry‑standard frameworks.
• Strong understanding of software development life cycles, Agile delivery, DevOps, continuous integration/continuous delivery, and shift‑left quality practices.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the end‑to‑end quality engineering strategy for Salesforce, custom applications, APIs, integrations, and responsive web applications.
• Lead test planning, estimation, execution, defect management, quality reporting, and release‑readiness assessments across multiple initiatives.
• Design and implement scalable automation frameworks for UI, API, integration, regression, and data‑validation testing.
• Establish risk‑based testing practices and quality gates within Agile delivery and CI/CD pipelines.
• Validate Salesforce configurations and customizations, including workflows, security profiles, permissions, Lightning experiences, Apex‑based functionality, integrations, and platform releases.
