Qualifications

• Knowledge of application techniques and surface preparation.
• Ability to plan work and select proper tools.
• Read work orders or instructions from supervisors to determine requirements.
• Work accurately within precise limits and standards.

Responsibilities

• Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking to protect areas.
• Mix coating additives to thin or promote drying.
• Fill cracks and joints with fillers using caulk guns or putty knives.
• Use sandblasting, chemical, or power tools to remove rust and old paint.
• Apply primers or sealers to surfaces before finish coats.
• Select and apply paint, stain, or varnish for heavy equipment, buildings, and bridges.
• Estimate material quantities and costs based on surface measurements.
