Job summary

CGS Federal in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Senior Lead Network Engineer to lead evaluation, design, and deployment of a large-scale wired and wireless network project within the NPS environment. You will partner with state and local agencies, vendors, and internal teams to deliver robust, secure infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related discipline.
• Strong documentation skills updating JIRA tickets, Wiki pages and network diagrams.
• Ability to communicate with end users and cross-organizational staff.
• CWNA or equivalent certification.
• BCNE or equivalent certification.
• Experience with RF site survey tools like Ekahau and Wireshark.
• Knowledge of layer 2/3 networking (VLANs, OSPF, VRRP).
• Network security knowledge (802.1x, ACLs, RADIUS, CA).
• Linux/Windows/VMware experience.
• Master’s degree preferred; disaster recovery and security testing experience.
• Agile/SCUM project management knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Operate and manage NPS network infrastructure.
• Improve infrastructure monitoring and reporting with network management software.
• Develop and maintain network documentation (diagrams, configs, runbooks).
• Review best practices and provide architecture recommendations.
• Administer Cloudpath onboarding, monitor wireless health, and patch management.
• Assess network infrastructure and suggest improvements.
• Define testing procedures for new infrastructure projects.
• Implement network solutions within the NPS environment.
• Provide design guidance on network projects.
• Offer training and knowledge transfer to NPS resources.
