Job summary

Tennessee College of Applied Technology Athens is seeking a full-time Lead Instructor in the Adult Education program serving Hamilton County. This role centers on delivering classroom instruction to adults across multiple levels and is grant funded.

The Lead Instructor reports to the Assistant Director and requires a commitment of at least 37.5 hours per week in the office, with responsibilities spanning instruction, assessment coordination, curriculum development, student advising, and program

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Education or subject area to be taught from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience.
  • Ability to teach adults math, reading, science, and social studies at the levels required for HiSET prep.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Willingness to travel between Hamilton County campuses and service area counties.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate classroom instruction for adults at various levels.
  • Coordinate with testing staff and schedule assessments post-testing.
  • Maintain attendance and student progress records.
  • Counsel and advise students on career goals with Workforce Coordinator.
  • Develop and coordinate remedial and developmental adult education courses.
  • Stay current with instructional methodologies and participate in professional development.
  • Assist with student recruitment, admissions, and orientation; support job placement.
