Job summary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Athens is seeking a Lead Instructor in the Adult Education program for Hamilton County. The role focuses on delivering classroom instruction to adults at various academic levels. This position is grant funded and requires 37.5 hours per week in the office.

The incumbent reports to the Assistant Director and will lead curriculum development, student assessment, and career guidance within the AE department.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Education or subject area to be taught.
  • Minimum of three years of teaching experience.
  • Ability to teach adults math, reading, science, and social studies for HiSET prep.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate classroom instruction to adults at various levels.
  • Coordinate testing schedules and assess student progress.
  • Maintain attendance and student progress records.
  • Counsel and advise students on career goals and post-secondary opportunities.
  • Develop courses and remedial content aligned with AE curriculum.
  • Remain current in instructional methodologies and participate in professional development.
  • Assist with recruitment, orientation, and job placement support.
  • Maintain compliance with FERPA and state AE policies.
