Job summary

Exyte is seeking a Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer to join a team of engineers and designers creating construction documents for HVAC, plumbing and related systems for high-tech facilities. You will lead calculations, sizing, P&IDs and design development from concept to final design.

Ideal candidates hold a Mechanical Engineering degree, PE license, and 10+ years of experience, with strong leadership and client-facing collaboration skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required.
  • NCEES Record preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Team player with ability to build effective relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Performs engineering tasks for design of utilities and HVAC systems for high technology facilities.
  • Prepares mechanical calculations: heat load, duct sizing, hydraulics, static pressure, equipment sizing.
  • Plans and schedules discipline deliverables including man-hour estimation and supervision of staff.
  • Develops manpower and labor cost requirements for a project and monitors them.
  • Provides input to studies and design for staff’s area of expertise.
  • Develops design procedures for high quality cost effective work.
  • Develops conceptual, preliminary and final design documents with calculations and P&ID.
  • Coordinates with project team and other disciplines.
  • Builds and maintains positive working relationships internal and external.
  • Contributes to engineering budget and schedule.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Senior Lead Mechanical Engineer participates in a team environment consisting of engineers and designers to produce construction documents for HVAC wet/dry, plumbing, controls and the like.

Explore your tasks and responsibilities
  • Performs engineering tasks for the design of utilities and HVAC (wet/dry) systems for high technology facilities including cleanrooms, general manufacturing/process facilities and institutional facilities
  • Prepares mechanical engineering calculations in support of HVAC systems design including heat load calculations, duct sizing, chilled water hydraulics, static pressure calculations, equipment sizing and selection
  • Plans and schedules discipline deliverables and activities including man-hour estimation, assigning personnel, and supervision of discipline personnel on the Projects
  • Develops manpower and labor cost requirements for a project and monitor them to aid in evaluating project schedule and budget
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff’s specific area of expertise
  • Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by discipline team
  • Develops of conceptual design, preliminary design and final design documents which would include calculations related to sizing and selecting of these systems, the development of Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, general arrangements and sequences of operation associated with these systems
  • Works closely in coordination with the project team and other disciplines as well as other design offices
  • Coordinates with disciplines in the preparation and development of the deliverables and ensuring those other disciplines’ inputs are incorporated
  • Works to build and maintain positive and productive working relationships both internal and external
  • Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements
  • Other duties as assigned
Show your expertise
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • Nation Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Record preferred
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Good time management skills, strong work ethic and attention to details
  • Individual must possess strong communication and organizational skills
  • Strong team player with an ability to build effective working relationships with individuals, department leads, and client representatives
  • Energetic and self-motivated
  • Works to build and maintain positive and productive working relationships both internal and external
  • Thorough knowledge of codes and common industry standards related to the design of industrial and manufacturing facilities and systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft products
  • Ability to mentor and train junior staff
  • Advanced Technology experience preferred
  • Experience with Autodesk Building Systems Software
  • Consulting engineering experience preferred
  • Experience working within a team environment
  • Experience in the quality control review process
  • Experience contributing to continuous improvement processes
