Job summary

Citi is seeking an Applications Development Senior Programmer Analyst in Chennai for a hybrid role. You will contribute to design, development, testing and maintenance of complex applications using Java, Python, Kafka and Iceberg within a Big Data/ cloud environment.

The role requires the ability to work with senior stakeholders, mentor teammates, and ensure secure, scalable solutions with modern microservices patterns and API-first approaches.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years of experience in Apps Development with hands-on coding using Java, Python, Kafka, and Apache Iceberg.
• In-depth knowledge of Java, Spring, Kafka, and distributed caches/systems.
• Experience with relational databases (Oracle) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB or Iceberg).
• Experience with microservices architecture and API-first design (REST, WebSocket, gRPC).
• Cloud platform exposure with Docker, Kubernetes or OpenShift.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to feasibility studies, estimation, IT planning and design of new or revised applications.
• Develop, test, and implement applications, providing user and operational support.
• Analyze complex problems, evaluate processes, and propose advanced programming solutions.
• Define security measures and post-implementation reviews for system reliability.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and technology groups; mentor junior analysts.
• Ensure compliance with risk, policy and governance standards.
