Job summary

The Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE) of the University of Rochester seeks a Sr. Laboratory Engineer to serve as the OMEGA EP System Analyst and Shot Director.

You will guide the operation of the Omega EP laser facility, analyze experimental configurations for feasibility and safety, and collaborate with IT to implement shot management rules. Responsibilities include developing performance metrics, leading small enhancement projects, and producing reports on system capability.

Qualifications

• B.S. Degree in Physical Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science and 5 years of applicable experience or equivalent combination of skills and work experience required.
• M.S. preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Shot Director and oversee safe, efficient facility operation.
• Analyze proposed configurations for safety, feasibility, and efficiency.
• Monitor performance metrics to maximize facility availability and effectiveness.
• Work with IT staff to implement business logic and develop tools for efficient operations.
