Job summary

Avion Solutions, Inc. in Huntsville, AL seeks a senior engineer to support investigation, understanding, and evaluation of high energy laser system safety for lab and test ranges.

You will provide system and safety engineering expertise to SMDC during the development, testing, and fielding of Army Laser Weapon technologies, including HWAS and predictive avoidance methods, as part of a government/contractor team.

Candidate must be a US citizen, able to obtain DoD clearance, and travel up to 15%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering with 10+ years experience.
• Understanding of laser subsystems: laser source, beam control, power management, thermal management, and battle management/fire control.
• U.S. citizen with ability to obtain/maintain DoD security clearance.
• Willingness to travel up to 15%.

Responsibilities

• Provide investigation, understanding, and evaluation of technical issues related to high energy laser system safety for laboratory and test range operations.
• Provide system and safety engineering expertise to SMDC during development, testing, and fielding of Army Laser Weapon technologies and systems.
• Support Hardware Abortion System (HWAS) and Satellite Predictive Avoidance methods as part of a government/contractor team.
• Other duties as assigned.
