Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a physical or engineering science required or safety officer experience in lieu of a degree.
• 5+ years as a laser safety officer required; safety investigations in development or failure analysis preferred.
• Proficiency with ANSI Z136.1 standards and multiple radiation sources (lasers, LEDs, x-ray generators).

Responsibilities

• Audit laboratories for laser and radiation safety compliance.
• Analyze safety hazards and draft hardware requirement specs for hazardous elements.
• Create and approve standard operating procedures for laser/optical hazards.
