itD is seeking a Compliance Specialist V to support Global EHS programs, ensuring laser, optical, and radiation safety in research labs and development environments. The ideal candidate has 5+ years as an LSO and deep knowledge of laser safety standards.

The role is onsite in Redmond, WA, with a pay rate of $40–$46 per hour for a 5-month duration, offering medical benefits and a 401k plan. Sponsorship is not available.

Qualifikationen

• At least 5 years of experience as a Laser Safety Officer (LSO).
• Proficiency in ANSI Z136.1 – The American National Standard for the Safe Use of Lasers.
• Experience conducting safety inspections, hazard assessments, investigations, and corrective-action development.
• Familiarity with lasers, LEDs, and X-ray-generating equipment safety.
• Experience in technical/engineering role involving field testing or failure analysis.
• Experience reviewing safety procedures and establishing laser/radiation controls.
• Strong communication, report-writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
• Degree or LSO/RSO experience accepted in lieu of degree as specified.

Aufgaben

• Conduct laboratory inspections and audits to assess compliance with laser and radiation safety requirements and recommend corrective actions.
• Evaluate safety hazards and assist in hardware requirements for laser-containing equipment.
• Perform laser exposure calculations (MPE, NOHD, NHZ) and conduct measurements of laser/LED sources.
• Review, develop, and approve laser/optical SOPs and assess work by external laser service technicians.
• Review experiments, conduct safety investigations, and perform tests to validate safety and design.
• Implement radiation safety protocols, conduct X-ray leakage surveys, and audit safety training for X-ray equipment.
• Collaborate with researchers, product, engineering and EHS teams to establish safety controls and drive programs like LOTO, chemical, electrical safety and machine guarding.
