Job summary

Crystal Equation Corporation in Redmond, WA is seeking a Laser Safety Specialist to onsite support the laser and radiation safety program, including lab inspections, hazard analysis, SOP creation, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities include auditing labs, analyzing safety hazards, performing laser/LED measurements, and ensuring compliance with standards. Travel to multiple sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Physics, Optical Sciences, Engineering, Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Direct experience as an LSO or RSO, or equivalent hands-on safety leadership.
• Experience in safety investigations during development or failure analysis.
• Familiarity with radiation sources including x-ray machines, lasers and LEDs; ANSI Z136.1 knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Audit labs for radiation and laser safety compliance.
• Analyze safety hazards and help specify hardware containing hazardous elements such as lasers, LEDs, X-ray.
• Implement laser and optical safety standards (ANSI Z136.1, IEC 60825, IEC 62471).
• Create, review, and approve laser and optical hazard-related SOPs.
• Review and approve work by outside laser service technicians.
• Assist in identifying corrective actions and communicating to stakeholders.
• Perform power, spectral and temporal measurements for laser and LED sources.
• Implement safety protocols per CDPH requirements for X-ray generators in CA.
• Travel to Sunnyvale, Burlingame, Fremont and Redmond as needed.
• Support additional EHS programs across cross-functional teams.
