Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking an experienced Lead/Lead-level field adjuster to investigate and settle highly complex homeowner property claims. You will determine liability, secure information, review coverages, arrange appraisals, and settle claims with independence and high competency.

The role is primarily field-based (80% in the field), with potential for occasional office travel for meetings or trainings.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of field property personal lines claims experience.
• Xactimate proficiency required.
• Experience handling complex homeowner property claims.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% and catastrophe travel up to 75%.

Responsibilities

• Investigate origin and cause of high exposure claims and verify coverage.
• Participate in High Damage Reviews to address coverage and exposure issues.
• Handle 1st and 3rd party claims across multiple policy types.
• Conduct on-site inspections, evaluate damages, and negotiate with insureds/claimants/advocates.
• Respond to customer inquiries, provide decisions, and close files.
• Interpret policies and endorsements and apply them to assigned losses.
• Provide guidance to less experienced adjusters as a mentor and subject matter expert.
