Qualifications

• BA/BS in a related field required, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum 7 years of related experience
• Large Group new business underwriting experience in the California market preferred
• Ability to learn and work within complex Rating Systems
• Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of a posting location
• Position is not eligible for current or future visa sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Determine acceptability of insurance risks and appropriate premium rates for large and complex group cases
• Calculate new business rates based on experience, location, demographics, and other factors
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure accurate and consistent account reporting
• Propose rates using carrier experience, demographic data, and manual rates
• Perform post-sale reviews
• Survey existing product portfolios by market and monitor sales results, trends, and needs
• Recommend product portfolio changes
• Assist in establishing rating and administrative procedures
• Participate in major multifunctional teams as the underwriting representative
• Assist in the technical development of underwriting associates, including monitoring reports and workflow
• Recommend productivity and efficiency improvements
• Update and monitor departmental processes and procedures for system, regulatory, and business compliance
• Partner with Sales to understand client and customer needs
• Collaborate with Actuarial teams to price complex cases accurately
