Job summary

AKS Engineering & Forestry in Keizer, Oregon seeks a Senior Land Use Planner to join our Planning team. You will research property, zoning, and utility factors to ensure compliance and prepare land use applications for subdivisions, zone changes, and site plans.

You will analyze complex development issues, collaborate with in-house engineers, surveyors, and planners, and develop detailed scopes for proposals while coordinating with clients and attending neighborhood meetings. Travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience performing land use planning/land development activities.
• Bachelor’s degree in planning, landscape architecture, geography, or related field or equivalent work experience.
• Experience interpreting City/County Comprehensive Plans and Development Codes; knowledge of Oregon statewide planning system.
• Strong organizational skills; proficient with MS Office, scheduling software, and presentation tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; support senior planners/project managers.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize workload; critical thinking and problem solving.
• Do what needs to be done mindset; take ownership to support projects and teams.

Responsibilities

• Research property, zoning, and utility data to ensure compliance with land use regulations.
• Prepare, organize, and submit materials for land use applications (subdivisions, zone changes, CUPs, site plans).
• Analyze complex issues affecting property development and respond to client inquiries.
• Coordinate with in-house engineering, surveying, and landscape teams and permitting staff.
• Develop clearly written scopes of work for proposals.
• Coordinate with clients on project data and scheduling.
• Organize and attend neighborhood meetings.
• Create, organize, and track project schedules and milestones.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with coworkers, clients, and permitting staff.
• Travel as needed, including occasional overnight stays.
