Widseth Smith Nolting and Associates Inc is seeking a Land Surveyor to lead boundary, ALTA/NSPS, construction staking, and topographic surveys across diverse projects in Minnesota. You will supervise field crews, manage projects from kickoff to closeout, review plats and legal descriptions, and collaborate with clients and engineers.

A Licensed Professional Land Surveyor with 5–8+ years of experience is required, along with proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, and

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS)
• 5-8+ years of land surveying experience
• Strong knowledge of boundary law, construction surveying, and local land use regulations
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, and Leica or Topcon workflows
• Demonstrated ability to manage teams, projects, and client relationships
• Excellent organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to client sites as needed

Responsibilities

• Lead boundary, ALTA/NSPS, construction staking, and topographic surveys across diverse project types
• Supervise and mentor field crews, providing technical direction and professional development
• Manage survey projects from kickoff through closeout, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards
• Review and prepare plats, legal descriptions, right-of-way maps, and construction drawings
• Operate and oversee GPS, robotic total stations, laser scanners, UAVs, and advanced survey technologies
• Collaborate directly with clients, project managers, engineers, and public agencies
• Serve as signing surveyor in accordance with state licensing requirements
• Champion safety, data integrity, and continuous improvement
• Continue learning and growing professionally
