Widseth Smith Nolting and Associates Inc is seeking a licensed Professional Land Surveyor with 5–8+ years of field and office experience to lead our boundary, ALTA/NSPS, construction staking, and topographic surveys. You will supervise field crews, manage projects from kickoff to closeout, and ensure quality and compliance with regulatory standards.

Ideal candidates will have strong knowledge of boundary law, experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, and Leica/Topcon workflows,

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) with 5–8+ years of land surveying experience.
• Proficient in boundary law, construction surveying, and local land use regulations.
• Strong ability to manage teams, projects, and client relationships.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Leica or Topcon workflows.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do

• Lead boundary, ALTA/NSPS, construction staking, and topographic surveys across diverse project types
• Supervise and mentor field crews, providing technical direction and professional development
• Manage survey projects from kickoff through closeout - ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met
• Review and prepare plats, legal descriptions, right-of-way maps, and construction drawings
• Operate and oversee use of GPS, robotic total stations, laser scanners, UAVs, and advanced survey technologies
• Collaborate directly with clients, project managers, engineers, and public agencies
• Serve as signing surveyor in accordance with state licensing requirements
• Champion safety, data integrity, and continuous improvement
• Continue learning and growing professionally

What You Bring

• Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS)
• 5-8+ years of land surveying experience
• Strong knowledge of boundary law, construction surveying, and local land use regulations
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, and Leica or Topcon workflows
• Demonstrated ability to manage teams, projects, and client relationships
• Excellent organizational, communication, and decision-making skills
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to client sites as needed
