Job summary

Join VHB in Charlotte, NC as a Project Engineer in our Land Development and Planning and Design team. You will develop engineering plans, supporting a diverse roster of higher-education, healthcare, retail, and hospitality projects, ensuring quality and code compliance.

The role demands 5+ years of engineering experience and a BS in Civil Engineering, with PE licensure anticipated within six months. We offer a hybrid work environment and extensive Total Rewards benefits.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering required.
• PE licensure expected or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• 5+ years of increasing engineering experience on complex projects.
• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, hydrology and hydraulic modelling software.
• Proficient in site layout, grading, utility design and stormwater management.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering plans and specifications in a team environment for a multitude of projects.
• Complete Due Diligence Reports and preliminary cost estimates for various sites and project types.
• Complete work within budget and prior to deadlines.
• Lead the development of preliminary layouts, design concepts, and detailed design drawings, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards and codes.
• Utilize, instruct, and delegate application usage for generating project-specific drawings, reports, or other technical deliverables
• Manage quality control procedures and recommend QC process enhancements
• Train and mentor junior staff on technical aspects and policies
