Job description

Job Title:
Senior Labor and Employment Attorney

Job Overview:
A law firm located in Manchester, NH, is seeking a seasoned legal professional with substantial experience in labor and employment law. This role requires deep familiarity with issues such as workplace discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, and employee training. The successful candidate will also be comfortable handling complex litigation matters and mentoring junior legal staff. The position offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment while maintaining a high degree of professional autonomy.

Duties:

Conduct comprehensive legal research and deliver strategic guidance to clients

Draft, review, and edit legal documents to a high professional standard

Represent clients before courts and administrative agencies

Participate in internal collaboration across legal teams, both in-office and virtually

Mentor junior attorneys and guide professional development initiatives

Allocate legal work effectively among associates, paralegals, and support staff

Develop and present training materials on current employment law developments

Log billable hours accurately and in compliance with firm protocols

Handle cases and projects independently

Foster a respectful and professional workplace environment

Requirements:

Minimum of 10 years of experience in employment law, including litigation

Prior exposure to or readiness to practice under Maine employment statutes

Demonstrated ability to take and defend depositions, and manage hearings

Prior experience advising on workplace policies and conducting employee training

High degree of written and verbal communication proficiency

Strong leadership and organizational skills

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution

Certifications:

Admission to the Maine Bar or eligibility for waiver into the Maine Bar

Good standing in all jurisdictions where licensed to practice

Skills:

Advanced litigation abilities (pleadings, motions, discovery)

Proficiency in legal research tools and drafting

Training and mentorship aptitude

Strong timekeeping and billing discipline

Capacity for working autonomously while contributing to team goals

Professional demeanor and interpersonal skills

Job Location:

Manchester, NH

Hybrid option available (minimum 3 days onsite, including anchor day midweek)
