Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Interim Legal Talent group has an immediate need for an Interim Labor & Employment Counsel.

Overview: MLA is seeking an experienced interim Labor & Employment Counsel to support our client’s dynamic and rapidly growing organization. Candidates should have strong experience providing both strategic and tactical guidance to Human Resources, Legel and Business Leadership on a broad range of labor & employment matters. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Company: Global fintech provider with services in Insurance, Reinsurance, Real Estate Services, Cyber Services, and Asset & Wealth Management

Experience: 8+ years of labor & employment experience within a law firm or in-house legal department

Location: Remote

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide overall legal and compliance support to the Human Resources function at the direction of the VP, Deputy General Counsel, Labor & Employment
  • Provide legal advice to internal clients, including management and HR professionals, on a broad range of employment-related matters including but not limited to, discrimination, harassment, benefits, performance, wage and hour laws, employee classification, employee benefits, employment agreements, reduction in force, Title VII, FLSA, ADA, FMLA, WARN, USERRA, state-level laws and compliance, and employment-related policies
  • Support global workforce strategies, including cross-border employment issues
  • Draft, review, and negotiate HR-related contracts, including, but not limited to, offer letters, employment agreements, and separation agreements
  • Support business strategic initiatives and projects, including U.S. and global policy development
  • Project-manage and partner with stakeholders to build long-term, sustainable processes and policies that support legal compliance and risk mitigation as the company scales.

Qualifications Include:

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited nationally recognized law school; licensed to practice in the U.S. and in good standing with a state bar
  • 8+ years of relevant law firm and in-house experience managing Labor & Employment matters
  • Experience counseling multi-state employers, particularly California, preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in compensation and wage/hour laws, discrimination, harassment, benefits, performance, employee classification, employee benefits, employment agreements, reduction in force, Title VII, FLSA, ADA, FMLA, WARN, USERRA, and cross-border employment issues
  • Strong experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating HR-related contracts, including, but not limited to, offer letters, employment agreements, and separation agreements
  • Experience advising sales-driven organizations that serve sophisticated clients is preferred
  • Knowledge of Workday and ServiceNow is a plus
  • Able to exercise exemplary interpersonal skills and communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively with business leaders and colleagues at all levels of an organization
  • Able to cultivate and navigate relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal direction and making decisions that reflect good judgment and integrity
  • Exercises a proactive approach to solving issues and a strong multi-tasker who can thrive in a fast-paced, ever-evolving, work environment

Pay Rate: $100/hour
