Job summary

The Technical Staff Assistant IV position at the University of Texas at Austin (Cockrell School of Engineering) supports structural engineering research on the Pickle Research Campus. You will assist with fabrication, testing, and safe operation of lab equipment in a team environment.

Ideal candidates bring at least four years in construction-related fields and hands-on experience with cranes, welding, hydraulics, and electronics, with strong safety awareness.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED.
• Four years of experience in construction related fields, maintenance of equipment or apparatus.
• Experience with light welding, light electronics, hydraulics, and heavy equipment operation is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Heavy equipment operation (forklift/overhead crane).
• Fabrication and construction of test setups/specimens.
• Assist with electronics and hydraulic configuration.
• Direct supervision of student researchers to promote and instruct safe working space.
• Other related functions as assigned.
