Job summary

Connect Labs San Jose is seeking a Lab Manager to oversee private and shared lab spaces, ensuring safe operations and supporting resident scientists with advanced scientific and technical needs. Reports to the Director, Connect Labs San Jose.

Qualifications

• At least five years of experience in biotechnology process development, biomanufacturing, or lab facility management.
• Bachelor’s degree or demonstrated experience in a relevant field is required.
• Experience in establishing SOPs, training programs, and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Oversee laboratory operations, including equipment and safety management.
• Administer the lab’s operational budget and financial planning.
• Develop and implement equipment and safety training plans.
• Manage shared and private lab facilities.
• Establish maintenance protocols and usage best practices for a multi-user environment.
• Create technical training programs and lab policies for resident scientists.
• Act as an emergency coordinator and promote a culture of safety.
• Coordinate Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) activities and regulatory compliance.
• Onboard new resident companies and offboard graduating ones.
• Collaborate with resident scientists and leaders to meet needs.
• Organize events to enhance interaction and value for member companies.
• Maintain client relationships and track site/member metrics.
