Job summary

Scholar Rock is seeking a Senior Manager, Lab Operations to provide leadership and oversight for our laboratory operations and support services. This role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient research environments and that equipment, facilities, systems, vendors, and operational resources effectively support ongoing studies.

The ideal candidate is collaborative, service‑oriented, and has biotechnology lab operations experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, biotechnology, engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of lab operations/engineering experience in biotech or life sciences.
• At least 7 years in BL2 lab operations with 3+ years of supervision.
• Experience managing labs, budgets, vendors, and cross-functional priorities.
• Knowledge of lab safety, OSHA, hazardous materials, shipping, waste.
• Experience with CMMS platforms and maintenance workflows.
• Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
• Willingness for off-hours response to critical lab issues.
• DOT Hazmat training or CPR/First Aid preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day laboratory operations and services to maintain safe, organized, reliable, and efficient research environments.
• Coordinate the maintenance, repair, installation, relocation, and lifecycle management of laboratory equipment and supporting infrastructure.
• Lead laboratory operations staff, establish priorities, and promote a collaborative, responsive, and service-oriented culture.
• Manage supplies, inventory, receiving, shipping, storage, waste, gases, cryogens, and other routine laboratory support activities.
• Partner with EH&S and stakeholders to support laboratory safety programs, training, inspections, permits, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage service providers, contracts, purchasing, operating expenses, laboratory systems, asset records, work orders, preventive maintenance, and monitoring activities.
• Work cross-functionally to improve laboratory processes and support changing research needs.
