Job summary

ECS Limited in Memphis is seeking a certified Lab Manager to lead the construction materials testing laboratory, oversee daily operations, and mentor junior staff while aligning with QA/QC and accreditation standards. You will manage testing workflows, calibrations, equipment maintenance, safety training, and client interactions, with a focus on quality, safety culture, and staffing.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, plus 4 years of related experience and relevant civil engineering

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate or Bachelors in Civil Engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages daily laboratory operations, personnel, and workload distribution.
• Oversees laboratory testing, data interpretation, and report preparation.
• Ensures testing meets standards (ASTM, QA/QC).
• Performs calculations and data reduction as needed.
• Maintains and calibrates laboratory equipment; manages calibration records.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Ensures laboratory organization and accreditation compliance.
• Obtains and maintains laboratory certifications and accreditations.
• Oversees compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS).
• Supports Project/Department Managers and admin functions as needed.
• Leads recruiting and staffing with leadership.
• Promotes safety culture and ensures PPE compliance.
• Participates in business development and client relations.
• Occasionally performs lab testing and technician duties.
