Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is seeking a Laboratory Coordinator who will oversee daily operations in the lab, supervise staff on shift, and ensure quality service.

The role requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills to support patient care and regulatory compliance. Under the Lab Manager, you will coordinate pre-analytical activities, improve processes, manage inventory, and participate in training and competency development, while

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a biological or medical science; Masters preferred.
• Five years minimum laboratory experience and MT (ASCP) certification required.
• Ability to problem solve, confront and resolve issues.
• Excellent communication skills required.
• Advanced competency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all pre-analytical activities during the assigned shift.
• Lead process improvements to enhance quality of service.
• Maintain a quality management system per hospital and center standards.
• Oversee education and training in Lab Receiving & Processing; include external technologists.
• Monitor productivity and ensure appropriate turn-around times.
• Provide consultative, educational, and technical services to families, patients and staff.
• Assist with staff recruitment, performance monitoring, and documentation.
