Job summary

Ford is seeking a Platform Engineer to design and scale OpenShift/Kubernetes platforms across on-premise and hybrid environments. You will build and operate Operators, APIs, and developer tooling to enable self-service capabilities for application teams.

The role emphasizes code-driven infrastructure, Go/Python development, and a GitOps mindset to deliver reliable, scalable private cloud operations at Ford.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in Platform/SRE/DevSecOps with automation focus.
• Deep Kubernetes/OpenShift knowledge with code-driven admin and upgrades.
• Strong programming background in Go and/or Python; hands-on development.
• Experience with CI/CD and GitOps tooling (GitHub, Argo CD, Tekton).
• API development experience and IaC automation.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native design.
• Experience with Operators and custom controllers.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, architect, and maintain OpenShift/Kubernetes platforms for on‑premise and hybrid clouds.
• Develop and support custom Kubernetes/OpenShift Operators and developer tooling.
• Write infrastructure automation in Go, Python, and Ansible to reduce manual toil.
• Implement GitOps CI/CD pipelines with Argo CD, Tekton/OpenShift Pipelines; manage related tooling.
• Improve platform reliability with monitoring, observability, and automated recovery.
• Build observability dashboards using Prometheus/Grafana and logging with ELK/Splunk.
• Collaborate with architects and teams; mentor junior/senior engineers in best practices.
