Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking a senior Platform Engineer to design, build, and scale OpenShift/Kubernetes platforms for on-prem and hybrid environments. You will implement GitOps pipelines, IaC, and API-driven tooling to enable self-service capabilities for application teams.

You will also focus on reliability, observability, and disaster recovery, while mentoring junior and senior developers in platform engineering and coding best practices.

Qualifications

• Hands-on engineering mindset with automation experience.
• Experience with Kubernetes/OpenShift platform administration and internals.
• Proficiency in Go and/or Python and API development experience.
• CI/CD and GitOps tooling experience.
• Infrastructure as Code and automation.
• Observability, monitoring, and reliable systems design.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, architect, and maintain OpenShift/Kubernetes platforms for on-premise, bare‑metal, and hybrid cloud environments.
• Develop and support Kubernetes/OpenShift Operators, APIs, and developer tooling for self‑service platform capabilities.
• Write infrastructure automation using Go, Python, and Ansible.
• Implement GitOps-based CI/CD pipelines using Argo CD, Tekton, GitHub, Helm, and Kustomize.
• Improve platform reliability with monitoring, alerting, and auto-recovery mechanisms.
• Build observability dashboards with Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace/AppDynamics, and ELK/Splunk.
• Support distributed systems, microservices, API gateways, service mesh, and secrets management.
• Explore AI/ML pipelines and chaos engineering in private cloud operations.
• Collaborate with architects and teams to improve usability and address constraints.
• Mentor team members and promote best practices in GitOps and platform engineering.
