Job summary

Ford Motor Company is hiring a senior Platform Engineer to design and operate private cloud platforms on-premises and in hybrid environments. You will automate with IaC, develop APIs, and build OpenShift/Kubernetes platforms end-to-end.

You will implement GitOps pipelines with Argo CD, Tekton, and GitHub Actions, and write code in Go or Python. You will focus on reliability, observability, and self-service capabilities for application teams.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, SRE, or DevSecOps with automation focus.
• Deep hands-on Kubernetes/OpenShift platform administration and internals, code-driven.
• Strong OO programming with Go and/or Python, hands-on developer mindset.
• Practical CI/CD and GitOps tooling experience (GitHub, Argo CD/OpenShift GitOps, Tekton/OpenShift Pipelines).
• API development experience and API-first mindset.
• IaC and infrastructure automation expertise.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, architect, and maintain OpenShift/Kubernetes platforms for on-premise, bare-metal, and hybrid environments.
• Develop and support custom Kubernetes/OpenShift Operators, APIs, and developer tooling for self-service capabilities.
• Write clean infrastructure automation using Go, Python, and Ansible to reduce manual toil.
• Implement and manage GitOps-based CI/CD pipelines with Argo CD, Tekton, and OpenShift Pipelines.
• Enhance platform reliability through monitoring, observability, and auto-recovery features.
• Build observability dashboards with Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK/Splunk.
• Collaborate with architects and teams to improve usability and tackle platform constraints.
• Mentor teammates and promote best practices in platform engineering.
