Job summary

Ford Motor Company seeks a senior Platform Engineer to design and operate on‑prem and hybrid OpenShift/Kubernetes platforms. You will implement API‑first microservices, automate with Go/Python, and build self‑service tooling that accelerates developer delivery.

You will implement GitOps pipelines, ensure reliability, and collaborate with architects to scale cloud-native platforms across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, SRE, or DevSecOps.
• Hands-on Kubernetes/OpenShift administration & internals, code-driven.
• Strong object-oriented programming in Go and/or Python.
• Experience with CI/CD and GitOps tooling (GitHub, Argo CD, Tekton).
• API development experience and API-first mindset.
• IaC and infrastructure automation experience.
• Distributed systems and cloud-native design principles.
• Kubernetes Operators and custom controllers experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain OpenShift/Kubernetes platforms for on-prem, bare-metal, and hybrid environments.
• Develop and support custom Kubernetes/OpenShift Operators, APIs, and tooling for self-service platforms.
• Write automation and IaC using Go, Python, and Ansible to reduce manual toil.
• Implement and manage GitOps-based CI/CD pipelines (Argo CD, Tekton).
• Enhance reliability with monitoring, observability, auto-healing, and disaster recovery."
• Build observability dashboards with Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace or ELK/Splunk.
• Support distributed systems, service meshes, and secret management across environments.
• Collaborate with architects and teams to improve platform usability and scale.
