Job summary

Fanatics is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale our Kotlin/Spring services powering the Fanatics App. You will own critical backend components, improve performance, reliability, and developer experience while collaborating with product and data teams.

You should be proficient with distributed systems, observability, and modern cloud-native practices, and you will mentor junior engineers as part of a fast-growing team across multiple geographies. Remote work is supported.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building highly scalable backend distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Spring with Kotlin and/or Java.
• Knowledge of observability practices including logging, monitoring, and tracing.
• Experience with Agile software delivery and cross-functional collaboration.
• Excellent communication and team-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, document, and deploy high quality backend services.
• Build features and tools used by the team.
• Participate in on-call rotation and troubleshoot issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns.
• Contribute to design discussions and engineering standards.
