Fanatics is seeking a Backend Engineer for its Core platform to design, develop, and maintain scalable services that power our global sports platform. You will work across teams to ship high-quality backend systems supporting ecommerce, collectibles, and betting initiatives.

The role emphasizes strong coding practices, observability, and mentoring, with opportunities to influence architecture and adopt modern patterns in a fast-growing environment. Some travel to Fanatics offices may be required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building scalable backend distributed systems.
• Proven ability to drive best practices in backend development and mentor others in architecture.
• Strong knowledge of observability, logging, monitoring and tracing in distributed systems.
• Experience delivering with Agile software methodologies and cross-functional collaboration.
• Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, document, and deploy high quality software into production.
• Build features and tools that you and your team use.
• Participate in on-call rotation to troubleshoot issues and unblock tasks.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns; contribute to design discussions.
• Ensure code quality through reviews and adherence to engineering standards.
• Collaborate with product and other stakeholders on technology decisions.
