Powhatan County Public Schools in Powhatan, Virginia, seeks a JROTC Instructor for the 2026-2027 school year to plan, deliver, and manage the JROTC program in line with DoD directives, school policies, and district procedures. The instructor will promote citizenship, character, leadership, and academic achievement.

Requirements include a Bachelor's Degree, rank of Captain with 15 years Army service, and strong communication skills; 215-day contract; reports to the Principal.

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor's Degree and must be at least the rank of Captain, retired from the United States Army with at least fifteen years of active military service.
• Must have the knowledge and experience of systematically planning, executing and evaluating individual and group instruction.
• Must have effective organization and management of classroom and outside the classroom instructional environments.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver JROTC curriculum aligned with service branch requirements and school division instructional expectations.
• Maintain compliance with all Department of Defense, service-specific JROTC regulations, and school division policies.
• Responsible for the order and progress of classes under his/her authority, direction and supervision.
• Establish and maintain a safe, orderly, and respectful classroom and training environment.
• Supervise before and afterschool teams as required.
• Document program activities and provide reports in compliance with national and local JROTC guidelines.
• Evaluate student performance and maintain accurate grading, attendance, and participation records in accordance with school procedures.
• Maintain productive working relationships with instructional and administrative personnel to promote student success.
• Strive to maintain and improve professional competence, by keeping abreast of current educational trends.
• Support school and division initiatives, events, and activities as appropriate.
• Perform other duties that may be assigned by the school administration, Superintendent, or designee.
