  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and student growth.
  • Evaluates student progress and counsels cadets on performance within the JROTC program.
  • Motivates and encourages students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge for responsible citizenship.
  • Monitors student movement to ensure a safe and orderly environment.
  • Organizes, supervises and participates in extracurricular activities for JROTC cadets (color guard, drill teams, etc.).
  • Maintains JROTC student records per Army regulations and local policies.
  • Complies with Army and school safety guidelines while instructing, supervising, monitoring, and accompanying cadets.
  • Maintains supply accountability in strict compliance with Army security regulations.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media.
  • Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills And/or Abilities Required)

Must be a retired United States Army Non-Commissioned Officer. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Must be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License and meet the minimum qualifications required by the Department of the Army. Must possess effective instructional delivery techniques, excellent communication skills, and the ability to motivate students to excel. Within the first year of employment, must obtain training (not a CDL) to operate a NNPS Activity Bus.
