Job summary

1X is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for the Body & Joints team to design and release production-ready body, joint, and structural systems for the NEO humanoid robot. You will own mechanical components from concept through prototyping to production, focusing on light, robust, manufacturable hardware.

You will work hands-on with hardware, iterate designs based on testing and real-world robot performance, and collaborate with controls, electrical, manufacturing, reliability, and supply chain

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics or related field.
• 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience developing complex mechanical or electromechanical products.
• Experience designing mechanisms, structural components, or robotic systems.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD and owning complex assemblies from concept to release.
• Strong understanding of statics, dynamics, materials, fatigue, and tolerance analysis.
• Experience with GD&T, drawing release, and production documentation.
• Experience designing components for machining, casting, molding, or additive manufacturing.
• Experience building and testing prototypes and using data to drive design decisions.
• Experience integrating mechanical systems with motors, sensors, electronics, wiring.
