Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Jira Administrator (Jira SME) to support and optimize enterprise Jira platforms within a highly secure government and compliance-driven environment. The Senior Jira Administrator will serve as the subject matter expert for Jira Data Center and Jira Service Management, partnering with technical and business stakeholders to enhance workflows, improve operational efficiency, and deliver scalable solutions that support mission-critical processes. This individual will play a key role in platform administration, system optimization, process automation, and the implementation of best practices across multiple Jira environments. This opportunity will be a long-term contract and is fully remote.

Responsibilities for the Senior Jira Administrator include:

• Serve as the primary administrator and subject matter expert for Jira Data Center and Jira Service Management platforms.
• Manage platform upgrades, migrations, maintenance activities, and production change requests while ensuring system stability and performance.
• Configure and maintain workflows, screens, schemes, permissions, dashboards, automations, custom fields, webhooks, and project templates.
• Partner with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and implement scalable Jira solutions aligned with operational objectives.
• Standardize Jira configurations, user roles, permissions, and governance models across multiple teams and departments.
• Troubleshoot complex application, performance, and system-related issues while providing advanced support to end users.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to team members supporting the Jira environment.
• Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and operations teams to deliver compliant solutions within regulated environments.

Qualifications for the Senior Jira Administrator include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
• 5+ years of experience administering and supporting Jira Data Center and Jira Service Management environments.
• Extensive experience designing, configuring, and managing Jira workflows, screens, schemes, permissions, groups, dashboards, and automation rules.
• Experience leading Jira upgrades, migrations, system enhancements, and platform optimization initiatives.
• Strong understanding of Jira architecture, application administration, plugin management, and integration best practices.
• Experience troubleshooting Jira application performance issues, system outages, and complex technical problems.
• Knowledge of compliance and security frameworks, including NIST Cybersecurity Framework and NIST 800-53.
• Experience administering Linux environments, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux, is highly preferred.
• Experience supporting SAML authentication, identity management, and access control integrations is preferred.

Compensation for the Senior Jira Administrator includes:

• Salary includes: $165,000 - $180,000
